During the first of the year, it is a little easier to take a step back, reflect and adapt. So what should mobile marketers focus on during the first quarter of the year? Here are some things members of the Young Entrepreneur Council recommend:
1. Developing a Comprehensive Strategy
Before you enter the first quarter of the year, you should create a comprehensive mobile marketing strategy. Plan what materials will go out and when. Then, at the first of the year, execute that strategy. Your first-quarter efforts should focus on making your mobile site user-friendly and fast. If it doesn’t perform, your potential leads will find the same info somewhere else and convert there. – Jeff Pitta, Medicare Plan Finder
2. Improving Social Commerce
Buying products and services via social media is on the rise as it provides ease and convenience for social media users. Mobile marketers need to take into account that more people want to buy natively from social media and must find ways to cater to this part of their customer base. – Jared Atchison, WPForms
3. Creating Optimized Video Content
Mobile marketers must invest in creating video content of 15 seconds or less that’s technically optimized to render a great experience on a mobile device. This is important because video is driving the most engagement. And investing in video lets you atomize that content into so many other mediums. – Gabriel Krajicek, kasasa.com
4. Optimizing Content for Voice Search
While mobile-first design has become an important ranking factor for search engines, responsive design is no longer enough to ensure that your content reaches your target audience. Voice search optimization is going to be the next big thing. Marketers need to make sure that their content is optimized for voice-based search queries so that the voice assistants direct visitors onto your website. – Rahul Varshneya, CurveBreak
5. Preparing for 5G
With this improved mobile network, companies will be able to invest in more interactive marketing videos thanks to the faster download speeds and capabilities 5G will provide. Things are shifting more and more toward video, and it is important for marketing to develop quality mobile content. – Jared Weitz, United Capital Source Inc.
6. Improving Navigation
There are few things as frustrating as seeking information on a site and not finding it. This can make a visitor quit your site and never return. It’s important to prioritize content and make navigation easy. Add a search bar in the main menu and in all pages so that visitors can use it to find information. – Syed Balkhi, WPBeginner
7. Doing a Channel Deep Dive
Pick a channel that’s fairly new or one that you have been meaning to really own and do a deep dive into growing your audience or an audience in that particular channel. Take notes on what works or doesn’t. – Arry Yu, Yellow Umbrella Ventures
8. Increasing Mobile Page Speed
As an entrepreneur for 20 years, I’ve seen a lot of changes to the digital marketing landscape. The most important change over the last decade relates to mobile marketing. In 2018 Google began rolling out its mobile-first index. This means they prioritize mobile rankings over desktop rankings. If I were to offer one top tip for mobile optimization it is to increase your mobile page speed. – Kristopher Brian Jones, LSEO.com
9. Implementing Chatbots
Chatbots are now an incredibly popular way for consumers to speak to businesses, whether on mobile or on desktop. So, if your business hasn’t implemented chatbots yet, it should be a priority for the new year. Chatbots are powerful tools that not only improve your customer service but they help drive sales too. If a consumer has any hesitations about buying, they can get instant answers. – Thomas Griffin, OptinMonster
10. Using Apps
More online businesses are implementing apps into their mobile strategy to better cater to consumers. When the right businesses use apps to further their marketing efforts, it makes all the difference in their conversions and engagement. – Stephanie Wells, Formidable Forms
11. Adding Digital Wallets
Digital wallets make it easier for people to complete purchases on their smartphones. Adding digital wallets as a payment option removes the need for users to type in card details every time there’s a transaction. This creates a great customer experience. – Blair Williams, MemberPress
